Molok North America manufactures, sells, and services the award-winning Molok® Deep Collection™ system: a better-looking, space-saving — and more cost-effective — way to manage reusables, recyclables, organics, and garbage.
Since debuting in Finland in 1991, Molok® containers have been chosen by governments, business owners, property managers, architects, developers, and environmental groups in 45+ countries to lower waste management costs, reclaim valuable real estate, beautify landscapes, and increase diversion rates.
Established in 1999, and headquartered in Mount Forest, Ontario, Molok North America is proud to bring the future of waste management to Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

Our Mission
Driven by a vision of a sustainable world in which effective and efficient waste management is seamlessly integrated into everyday life, our mission is to replace legacy approaches to municipal, commercial, and multi-residential waste management (e.g., dumpsters, wheeled carts, surface bins, and climate-controlled rooms) by making it easy to buy and use our better-looking, space-saving, cleaner, safer, and more cost-effective Molok® Deep Collection™ containers — whether as a standard in new builds or as a retrofit upgrade to existing facilities.

The Molok North America team is committed to designing, manufacturing, selling, and servicing solutions that seamlessly integrate effective and efficient waste management practices into everyday life. In doing so, we’re proud to carry a torch lit in Finland more than three decades ago.
In 1991, entrepreneur and inventor Veikko Salli debuted the original Molok® Deep CollectionTM system. Mr. Salli’s pioneering approach represented the most meaningful advancement in storing and collecting waste since the arrival of the Dempster Dumpster in 1935 and, appropriately enough, was inspired by the dirty, smelly, pest-attracting garbage bins outside his hotel and restaurant operation.
Through years of experimenting and tinkering, Mr. Salli had developed a product that saved space, saved money, and looked better than alternatives — while also being cleaner, safer, and easier to use. With clear advantages over dumpsters and carts, demand took off and the original Deep Collection™ lineup and its descendants have been planted in more than 45 countries around the world.

Marja Hillis, early 2000's.
Molok North America was born in 1999, when Marja Hillis — Mr. Salli’s daughter — moved to Mount Forest, Ontario. With a tireless commitment, she championed the Deep CollectionTM system and its many benefits over the status quo. Municipalities, facility managers, and property developers loved the solution, but despite the strong demand many haulers were reluctant to support crane-lifted collections, presenting a chicken-and-egg barrier to progress.
But Molok® didn’t become a global brand by giving up easily — if the major haulers wouldn’t support crane-lifted collections, then we would just do it ourselves. In 2003, Mark Hillis (now Molok North America’s CEO) began Deep Clean Waste Services Incorporated to serve South-Western Ontario. With crane-lifted collections available at a competitive price, adoption of the Deep Collection™ system soared.

The big haulers took notice, and Waste Management Inc. acquired Deep Clean Waste Services Inc. only a few years later, enabling expansion of service across Canada. Fast-forward to today:
- More than 12,000 Molok® units have been planted across the continent, and Molok North America is the market leader in semi-underground waste containment solutions;
- Crane-lifted collection is available and competitively priced in practically every municipality with a population greater than 50,000; and
- The original Deep Collection™ line has been extended to include a range of models, lids, accessories, and customization options to meet the diverse waste needs and installation environments of North America’s vast geography.
More than two decades after Marja Hillis established Molok North America in Mount Forest, it remains our home and reminds us daily of the small-town values that have guided our company so well for so long. From these headquarters, our dedicated team is proud to drive the industry forward with a commitment to product quality, customer service, and relationships built on earned trust — all oriented around a better way to manage waste.
